Pikey Peak trek is an excellent short trek in the lower Everest region to witness breathtaking panoramas of Mount Everest and other eight-thousanders. It is not as tiresome and challenging as the Everest Base Camp trek and can be completed in 10 days.
You will explore the lush foothills of the eastern Himalayan range in Nepal, along with beautiful Sherpa villages. Spring, autumn, and winter are the seasons to do the Pikey Peak trekking.
The rhododendron blooms in spring, the autumn festivity, and the winter snowy landscape make each season special.
Along with Mt. Everest, you will also see outstanding views of Lhotse, Kanchenjunga, Makalu, Cho Oyu, Annapurna, Manaslu, Nuptse, Thamserku, Pumori, Kangtega, etc.
The Pikey Peak trek does not include the Lukla flight, and the starting/ending points of the trail are easily accessible via jeep ride from Kathmandu. The best thing about the Pikey Peak trek is that it is an untouched part of the Everest region.

Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival day in Kathmandu
Meet the team of Adventure Treks Nepal at the airport. They will be there to welcome you and transfer you to the hotel. We use private vehicles during our airport transfers.Check-in at the hotel and rest for a bit. After that, you will meet the trek guide. He will brief the route. You will then spend some time purchasing trekking essentials and exploring the bustling streets of Thamel.
Day 2: Drive from Kathmandu to Dhap early in the morning
You will leave Kathmandu early in the morning. We use a private jeep to drive to Dhap and from Phaplu.The road is smooth in the first few hours and gradually follows a curvy road along lush hills. The road is bumpy in some sections, but beautiful scenery will make up for it.
Day 3: Trek from Dhap to Jhapre
You will start trekking along the lush hills. The trail follows the Phokte Danda and leads to Sigane village. On the way, you can see stunning views of Numbur Himal.From here, you will ascend to Jhapre settlement. The view of Everest, Numbur Himal, and many other mountains are excellent from this village. You will also explore a stupa and an old monastery here.
Day 4: Trek from Jhapre to Pikey Peak Base Camp
Leaving Jhapre, you will ascend to a grassy ride called Bhulbhule. The view of the Everest range is breathtaking from here. From Bhulbhule, the trail ascends towards the Pikey Peak Base Camp.You will pass by rhododendron forests and Taklung Danda. This part of the trail is extremely gorgeous in the spring season. On the way, you will also see several ancient yak homes.
Day 5: Ascend to Pikey Peak (4,065 m/13,336 ft) and descend to Junbesi for the night stay
Start the day early with a warm cup of tea and hike to Pikey Peak. It will be a memorable day because you will see a spectacular panorama of Mt. Everest and many other mountains like Dhaulagiri, Manaslu, Kanchenjunga, Lhotse, Makalu, Annapurna, etc.From the Pikey Peak Base Camp, the trail gradually ascends through the mountain's west face to reach the top. As you will hike to the top of the peak, you will also see a heavenly sunrise.After enjoying the views, you will descend to the base camp following the same route and hike down to Junbesi to spend the night. The downhill trail to Junbesi goes through a pine forest.
Day 6: Hike to visit Thupten Choling Gompa (3,031 m/9,944 ft) and descend to Junbesi
Wake up early in the morning and hike from Junbesi to Thupten Choling Gompa. It is a 19th-century monastery. The monastery visit will give you a glimpse of the local culture and tradition. After exploring the monastery, you will descend to Junbesi to spend the night.
Day 7: Trek from Junbesi to Chiwang to Phaplu
Today is the last day of the trek. From Junbesi, the trail descends to Phaplu via Chiwang. You will walk on a sandy track and cross a suspension bridge. The trail goes through Beni Ghat before reaching Phaplu. The trail is beautiful. You will see stunning mountain views while hiking.
Day 8: Drive from Phaplu to Kathmandu by local sharing jeep
After breakfast, you will drive back to Kathmandu. It will be a scenic ride. The ride will be slightly bumpy at the start and gradually get better. Upon reaching Kathmandu, settle in your hotel. The rest of the evening is free.
Day 9: Free day in Kathmandu
You have one full free day in Kathmandu. Spend this day resting, shopping, and exploring Kathmandu. Visit local markets and try Nepalese food. If you want to do a guided sightseeing tour, let us know. We will provide a friendly tour guide. In the late evening, we may meet to provide you with a trek certificate.
Day 10: Trip ends!
On this day, you will leave Kathmandu and fly back to your home. Our team will drop you at the airport.
